For over 100 years the Sisters of St. Joseph faithfully served the students of St. Mary’s Colgan. As lay teachers eventually replaced the Sisters in the classroom, the cost of a Catholic education steadily increased. From the modest stipends the Sisters earned to the full salary and benefits required for the lay faculty, the cost of keeping our school running became a much greater challenge. The legacy left by the Sisters was the foundation that helped the school weather this difficult period.
Our lay Catholic school teachers carry on this legacy. Our teachers willingly sacrifice higher salaries to teach in our schools. To recognize this commitment a fund has been established to help reward staff and supplement their salaries so we can maintain the faith, excellence, and tradition our school is known for.
A teacher may qualify for funds in several ways:
•As an incentive to help recruit and hire the best and brightest teachers, K-12.
•In recognition of exemplary performance and service that goes above and beyond normal duties.
•A salary increase for those faculty who provide extraordinary value to the school and whose contribution is recognized by all.
